How soon you can refinance your home depends on the lender where you apply for the new loan. Some lenders will refinance you regardless of how long you have owned the property.
You can refinance immediately with such lenders. Others have “seasoning” requirements, which means you must be in your house for at certain period of time.
Depending on the lender, the seasoning period can be anywhere from three months to a year. Once you have been in the house for a year, you can refinance with virtually any lender.
Ask your mortgage lender before you sign the papers. Some mortgage lender agreements require you pay a fee to exit out of an exisiting mortgage if it is within a given time period. Each mortgage lender is different so be sure to ask plenty of questions.
